Uptown Cheapskate is a trendy and vibrant retail franchise that specializes in buying and selling high-quality, gently-used clothing, accessories, and fashion items at affordable prices. Our stores are known for their stylish selection, welcoming atmosphere, and commitment to recycling and sustainable fashion. This position will be working for the owners of stores in Austin, College Station and San Marcos & N. Austin. Uptown’s #1 franchisee. Our owners are considered to be leaders in the rapidly-growing Uptown community. Our stores are moderate to upscale resale associated with trendy, designer and vintage fashion including luxury brands. We promote awareness of the value of sustainable living along with current apparel and accessory trends and ability to earn extra money with recycling that pays, along with being eco-friendly and saving money by shopping used.

We are seeking a creative and dynamic Social Media & Marketing Coordinator to join our team and expand and improve our social media presence. Residence may be in any of these locations or in-between but will require travel to all locations.  We are also open to working with freelancers and independent contractors. 


** Position Overview: **

As the Social Media/Marketing Coordinator for our Uptown Cheapskate retail store, you will be responsible for developing and implementing an engaging social media strategy that resonates with our target audience, enhances brand visibility, and drives customer engagement. You will work closely with the marketing team to curate, create, and distribute compelling content across various social media platforms, while also fostering meaningful interactions with our online community. 

** Objectives **

We are hiring a social media coordinator to produce, direct and curate social media campaigns in conjunction with our team and the franchise. The goal will be a coordinated and consistent output of content along with other marketing, as well as regular meetings to discuss analytics. The ultimate goal is more brand awareness, more foot traffic and sales.

** Skills and Qualifications **

Candidates are expected to have:

  • Experience as a social media manager or a similar role 
  • Experience in creating social media strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook. Familiarity with YouTube and others is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and work ethic
  • Creativity and ability to craft and/or develop engaging content
  • Time management skills, organization and the ability to multitask
  • Canva or like graphic design tools
  • AI integrated content design tools 


**Key Responsibilities:**

Candidates are expected to be familiar with social media platforms, photography and current trends in fashion and popular music and to stay updated through ongoing education. Knowledge of current platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook as well as emerging platforms is essential.

Social Media Coordinator will be expected to:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with Uptown Cheapskate's brand identity and business goals.
  • Monitor and analyze customer expectations according to past and current social media activity
  • Maintain, develop and optimize social media strategies and content for existing and emerging or developing platforms including but not limited to Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Pinterest.
  • Plan and develop social media campaigns
  • Craft compelling content and collaborate with the marketing team to design visually appealing graphics, photos, videos, and other multimedia content that captures the essence of Uptown Cheapskate's offerings and values.
  • Plan campaigns and post content across social media accounts
  • Engage with customers on different channels and respond to inquiries by monitoring and managing social media accounts on a daily basis, responding promptly to comments, messages, and inquiries from followers in a professional and customer-centric manner.
  • Analyze campaign KPIs
  • Transform key data into actionable insights for all stakeholders and assist in managing platform relationships. Utilize analytics tools to track and report on key social media metrics, such as engagement rates, follower growth, and click-through rates, and use insights to continuously refine the social media strategy.
  •  Stay current with social media trends, best practices, and emerging platforms to ensure Uptown Cheapskate remains at the forefront of digital marketing. Make recommendations on poor-performing content and adapt accordingly.
  •  Collaborate with the store team to promote in-store events, promotions, and special offers through social media channels.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with influencers, bloggers, and other relevant stakeholders to expand the brand's online presence and reach.
  • Manage social media advertising campaigns, optimizing performance and targeting to drive traffic to the store and website.
  • Communicate effectively to all stakeholders including senior management and content developers. Work with owners, management, staff and franchise partners to drive engagement, growth, and traffic
  • Schedule and manage marketing, including print, for all store-wide promos and events 
  • Some travel to the other locations will be necessary. 

** Preferred Qualifications **

  • Obsession with creating impactful social media and video content is a must
  • Three years experience in professional content curation and social media marketing.  Digital marketing, internet marketing or related fields are helpful.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent work experience) 
  • Proven experience as a Social Media specialist, coordinator, manager or similar role, preferably in the retail or fashion industry. Demonstrable track record of growing and retaining social audiences and driving traffic
  • Proficiency in social media platforms, content creation and analytics. Sound knowledge of key tools including but not limited to Meta Ad manager, Google analytics, etc.
  • Strong understanding of current social media trends, algorithms, and best practices.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to conceptualize and execute engaging visual and written content.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Enthusiasm for sustainable fashion and the Uptown Cheapskate brand.
  • Basic graphic design and photo editing skills is a plus.
  • Knowledge of paid social media advertising is an advantage.
  • Experience optimizing CPC, audience retargeting & lead generation is a plus
